    About Me:

My name is Valerie Young Ferrell. I was born and raised in Rhea County. My parents, John and Judy Young, ran a small oil distribution company in town (J.C. Young Oil Co.) before retirement in 2016. I participated in scouts as a child, and--for several years after college--I lead a local Girl Scout troop. I currently lead a Daisy troop in town for Kindergarten and 1st graders.

I have been married for eleven years now, and my husband, Jeff Ferrell, teaches Language Arts at Rhea County High School. We have two little girls named Julianna and Autumn. They are also Rhea Central students.

Recently, I have begun using to design and publish some of my educational games for retail. Our classes will be the first to play the new games as they are printed--typically one every month or so.

I have wanted to teach for as long as I can remember, and I owe my education to a very talented group of Rhea County instructors. Children are my joy, and I enjoy crafting fun and hands-on lessons that will keep students motivated and engaged each day!
